Recently one of our customers asked us to once again design and manufacture a complete set of stinger hang-off blocks, each with a safe working load of 1,000 metric tonnes. Contrary to previous orders these blocks were not meant for a new ship being built but for upgrading a pipelay vessel already in use. Taking into account the relevant certifying bodies, the existing vessel’s structure, and the desire for redundancy, Ropeblock carried out the design and manufacturing of 48 metric tonnes worth of steel, within an extremely challenging 12 week window. Much to the customer’s satisfaction.
